Foundation Certificate in Funeral Service

This is an entry-level course leading to the Foundation Certificate in Funeral Service. It has been designed to provide an introduction to the funeral service and is suitable for:

  • People wishing to enter the funeral profession
  • Recent recruits to the profession
  • Funeral directors wishing to study for the Diploma in Funeral Directing

NB: Students must have successfully completed this course before they can go on to study for the Diploma in Funeral Directing and must be employed in the funeral service on a minimum basis of 80 hours per month.

The course comprises seven units, two essays, two reports and a formal written examination, as per a syllabus set by the National Association of Funeral Directors and is taught by the British Institute of Funeral Directors' registered tutors.

Formal assessments are held each year in February, June and November.
