A joyous and long-overdue celebration of the hard work of the NAFD’s diploma students took place at the Birmingham NEC Hilton Metropole in September as the Classes of 2020 and April 2021 were presented with their diplomas.
Addressing the students, NAFD President Kate Edwards expressed her pride and pleasure at being able to address the students in person.
“Those receiving the DipFD – you are holders of the gold standard in funeral education.” she reminded them. “Use the knowledge and skills you have gained during your tutoring, and your research and your reporting, to make a real difference to each family you serve.”
Kate also acknowledged the challenging circumstances faced by the students: “You have needed courage to face the challenges these last 19 months have brought you – and courage you have shown. I take my hat off to each and every one of you. You have achieved the success you have strived for.”
After the formalities of the graduation ceremony, it was time to celebrate and the students, their tutors, friends and families sat down for a sumptuous dinner followed by dancing into the night.
The event was supported by lead sponsor Ecclesiastical Planning Services, JC Atkinson, Funeral Products, Rosedale Training, Rowland Brothers International and SEIB. The NAFD would like to thank them all for helping to make the event possible.
