NAFD seeks urgent clarification
The NAFD is seeking urgent clarification from civil servants and Ministers in Northern Ireland over whether the September deadline for the cessation of electronic transfer of documents for death registration can be extended again or, even better, the process can somehow be made permanent.
Introduced during the pandemic, the system has been a major improvement on the funeral process and it was extended because of the Parliamentary elections in May. However, it is now due to end in September. As it is also doing in Westminster, the NAFD will continue to push over the coming weeks to keep the electronic transfer of forms going for as long as possible to support the improved death registration experience for bereaved people.
